This issue of the SM4 Newsletter is focused on change. More specifically we are focusing on how to manage change.

You want to make a difference. But implementation of new safety programs and operations procedures is often, in fact almost always, hard. Let’s be honest, even with the best intentions you will fail to make positive differences unless you win over the hearts and minds of the people who will be asked to use the new procedures or follow your new rules.

It’s not enough to use spreadsheets that prove the financial advantages to safe operations. You have to provide concrete examples. Logic is never enough. Sometimes a single person leads the change. Might that be you? If it is, you will need the information the SM4 team consolidated in this issue. Learn about the need for communication skills that go far beyond the ability to write manuals and checklists. Learn about what causes each of us to resist charge – because we are human. Learn about the importance of simplicity and flexibility in response. Consider the importance of continuous learning.

If you are leading the charge, Global Aerospace can help. Our safety support programs are designed with you in mind. Call us. Write to us. Let us know what you need. But you have to do the work.
